Nimajh is located in the village of Sangawas, in the district of Pali, to the south of Jodhpur in western Rajasthan. The township of Nimajh is surrounded by places of historical interest, such as the 9th century temple Magar Mandi. Nimajh is 110 kms away from Jodhpur. Chhatra Sagar, the area in which Nimajh is located is home to the Seervi tribe, very similar to the better known Bishnois.
History:
Nimajh was a ‘jagirdari’ or principality in the kingdom of Marwar, under the rulers of Jodhpur. The Jagram Durg or main fort of Nimajh dates back to the year 1773 and was constructed by Thakur Jagram Singhji. Today the fort is the focal point of the settlement of Nimajh and acts as a good tourist attraction.

The summer temperature ranges from a maximum of 38 C to a minimum of 28 C so it is best to carry light cotton clothing if you plan to visit during the summer months of April, May and June. The winter temperature is pleasant, ranging from a maximum of 28 C to a minimum of 8 C, requiring visitors to carry light woolen clothes. July to mid – September is the rainy season so it is best to travel to this area during the cooler months of October to March.
Since the nearest major city is Jodhpur, it is advisable to get foreign currency exchanged from the State Bank of India in the city. Visitors can also get travelers cheques and foreign currency changed at any of the other main cities of Rajasthan such as Jaipur, Udaipur or Jaisalmer.

As visitors enter ‘Loha Pole’ (the towering gates) and pass by the ‘Dalwans’ (the sit-outs for relatives), the touch of royalty is apparent.
Chhatra Sagar Lake – Located just four kilometers from Jagram Durg with the Aravalli Range on its horizon, this lake offers breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset.
