Govindghat, Uttaranchal

Introduction

Govindghat is the starting point for the trek to Hemkund Sahib or the Valley of Flowers trek. The place is known for the Gurudwara located on the bank of the Alaknanda River which is named after Guru Gobind Singh.  Govindghat is located on the confluence of the Alaknada and Laxman Ganga rivers and is situated between Joshimath and Badrinath.Hemkund Sahib is a 16 kms trek from Govindghat and hundreds of visitors, mainly Sikh Pilgrims visit Govindghat on the way to Hemkund Sahib or the Valley of Flowers.

 The distance between Govindghat and Joshimath is about 22 kms and the distance between Govindghat and Badrinath is about 28 kms.
Accommodation facilities are available at the Gurudwara. Buses and jeeps traveling between Badrinath and Joshimath stop at Govindghat.
